DEAR PONTIAC HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT FANS: The 85th Pontiac Holiday Tournament is officially in the books. To say it was uneventful would be an understatement. I had envisioned different scenarios about unusual weather delays that would impact the tournament but never did I imagine losing power for several hours and have an almost total blackout in our city. We took a direct hit with the winter storm. However, through it all everyone on our staff, floor officials, our coaches, and especially you our FANS were patient and understanding as we worked through the problem and created an alternate plan so we could finish the tournament in the main gym. Our teams endured poor travel conditions and staying in motels with no power, and having to stay in town an additional day. But through it all our community reached out to our teams to make a bad situation better. Once the power was restored and stayed on it was business as usual. As in past tournaments we were blessed with great individual performances and great games. There was no shortage of excitement. One of our goals is always to provide our teams and out of town guests with a friendly/welcoming atmosphere and very competitive games against some of the best and historic programs in the state. This year tested this goal but I believe everyone stepped up during this difficult time.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your patience and understanding, and supporting the tournament during a very difficult and trying time.
Jim Drengwitz, Tournament Director
